Lothiriel leaves Eomer to his nervous question-asking and heads down towards the main part of the castle. Various people are wandering around already, doing their work, although she's slowly training them to understand that there's more to life than paperwork and strudel. She looks up at one report, delivered verbally. "My cousin and his wife? In a fountain? Well, bring some towels and wait for them to finish. And invite them up here. And have someone get a room ready for them." | | Sunday, April 27th, 2003 | | 9:52 pm |
Lothiriel sits at her desk at Minas Tirith and reads the latest news from Minas Tirith. There have been some interesting developments, she notices.
After sitting and thinking for a while and resolutely not crying, particularly over one piece of news that can never happen to her again, she draws some paper towards her - the best paper, used for Royal decrees and lining swans' nests - and picks up a swan-feather pen.Dear Eomer, I just heard your news. My congratulations to both you and Luthien. I hope you will both be very happy. The nature of my duties mean that leaving Dol Amroth for long periods is no longer possible. I realise that I have to choose between my marriage and my country, and considering the state of our marriage, I think there isn't really a choice, is there? The fact that we both missed our first wedding anniversary would seem to me to be a clear indicator of the state of affairs between us. Baby Elfwine will remain with me, if that's okay with you. He's in excellent health and gets on very well with his half-brother who has been threatened with removal of all shinies if he does anything nasty to him. So far, there's no sign of Elfwine mutating into his elder alter ego, for which I am heartily grateful. I love our elder son, but I would rather that his younger counterpart did not have to suffer as he did. I love you, Eomer of Rohan, and I always will. But increasingly, I find it is not as a husband, but as a brother and the man I rely on. For my country's sake, I would like to retain formal ties with you, and hereby offer you the position of Ambassador to Minas Tirith for Dol Amroth. Please let me know your response. I think if nothing else, I owe Luthien your freedoim. Lothiriel Princess of Dol Amroth. (PS - if you marry her, you'd damn well better do it in Dol Amroth or I'll send the swans after you.) | | Monday, March 24th, 2003 | | 9:09 pm |
Eomer?
Sorry I didn't come looking last night, but I was so exhausted when I arrived that I just needed to sleep. Where are you, darling? Are you decent or at least not shagging someone in public? | | Monday, March 10th, 2003 | | 8:33 pm |
*blinks*
I appear to have a present. *unwraps large bulky parcels slowly, reading tag* Something to keep you safe, miss you, love, EomerGosh, new bodyguards! Mun has to catch up on mountains of not reading but lots of early nights seem to have done the job on beating the lurgi. If anyone fancies updating me on what's happened recently... I'd, well, I'l flutter my eyelashes in gratitude. | | Sunday, February 23rd, 2003 | | 6:01 pm |
Let's go a-courtin'!!! Lothiriel walks nervously into the courtroom, Eomer behind her. All eyes are on her as she crosses the centre well and seats herself in the Prince's chair. Eomer stands behind her. A moment later, attention turns from her, as Elphir is brought into the dock, stumbling slightly between his guards. He is unchained, as the law requires, but the guards stand closely beside him. He is followed by sundry members of family and associates, who seat themselves opposite the jury of Dol Amroth citizens. She clears her throat and the sound echoes around the chamber. The court will now come to attention for this trail. Elphir of Dol Amroth, you are charged with several crimes against the laws and customs of Dol Amroth, Ithilien and Gondor. I now call upon witnesses present to list the charges. | | Wednesday, February 19th, 2003 | | 8:29 am |
Eomer?
Can you bring him to Dol Amroth? We need to hold a trial. Val, I know it's a lot to ask for, but can you come as well please? And you too Erchi, and anyone else from the family who's around. Things need to be done properly. However unhappy I may be with the likely outcome. | | Tuesday, February 18th, 2003 | | 12:27 pm |

*Ahem*
People of Dol Amroth. Due to a breakdown in communications and the fact that your prince needs some time off to live up to the finest traditions of the Royal Family yep, he cracked, he's an axe murderer too, I am temporarily taking control of this principality. No, I don't care about your bloody "Salic Law", you have a choice between me, the angst-ridden sometimes-hobbit or the drooling imbecile. And the drooling imbecile isn't as easy to handle as he looks. Right, if you're looking for me, comfy leather chair behind boss's desk. Shuffling paperwork. Oh, and one law is changed: fair's fair, if the swans attack you, you can defend yourself now. Thank you, Lothiriel. Erchi, if I wind up in deep shit over this, it's all your fault, mmkay, precious? | | Friday, February 14th, 2003 | | 7:51 pm |
Eomer?
We need to talk. I have something to tell you. | | Sunday, January 26th, 2003 | | 5:35 pm |
Back in Arda.
Lothiriel returns alone and quietly to the Steward's House in Minas Tirith. From the sounds of activity, her husband is in the stables. She really can't face him yet. It's much much safer to just go and curl up on her bed and cry and wonder what she's going to say. She wraps her arms around her belly and falls into an uneasy sleep, half-dreaming of things. Current Mood: empty | | Wednesday, January 22nd, 2003 | | 11:12 pm |
One?
You're NOT a shitty bodyguard. You're a wonderful bodyguard and I very much appreciate having you around. I just needed a little bit of time alone to think about some things, that's all. I want to go riding. Very fast and for quite a while today. Would you like to join me? I feel rather... restless. | | Friday, January 17th, 2003 | | 10:40 pm |
Lothiriel returns to Faramir's house with Eomer after Boromir's funeral. They've brought everything back from Rohan with them, in an attempt to leave their bad memories in Edoras. Things are much calmer now that Denethor has gone again. Even though Lothiriel's heart aches for her uncle's loss, she worries more about her husband's reaction to them. Without talking, Eomer and Lothiriel settle down beside the fire in hall holding hands gently. Luthien joins them shortly afterwards, bringing Elfwine with her. She is followed by Beren with Niphredil. Eomer takes his son from Luthien, and sits, cradling him in his arms, staring into the fire. Those around him, who all love him in their own way, stay silent, remembering the events of the day. Remembering Boromir. | | Wednesday, January 15th, 2003 | | 9:11 pm |
My cousin is dead. My lovely Boromir, who played with me, taught me to ride, had time for me when no-one else is dead. I spent the last six months of his life hating him until shortly towards the end. My husband is wounded. Near death. Luthien has saved him. I can't face Eomer right now. He suffers too much and I have my own grief to deal with. Let Luthien, who did not know my cousin so well, comfort him. I cannot. *backs slowly away, into another set of arms, which enfold her comfortingly* | | Tuesday, January 7th, 2003 | | 7:56 pm |
As the evening progresses, Lothiriel returns to Haldir's side. They're taking turns to watch him, and she has insisted on taking the night watch, pointing out, sensibly, that it frees up the men to stand guard. Her baby is still up at Edoras, while they're all staying at the inn. It seems safer - if Ungoliant is chasing Boromir's family, the child will be more secure hidden at the court. Even though Denethor is Boromir's father, she doesn't feel that he will be attacked. And if he is, he is in a far better state to protect the boy than she and Eomer. It's getting late, and peering out the window, Lothiriel can see that the lights in most windows of the inn are gone. But she hears hoofbeats and a voice calling out for a groom. In the dim light of the lantern carried out by the stableboy, Lothiriel can see her cousin dismounting. He looks anxious and hastily hands over the reins of his horse, before striding towards the inn door. She watches him in silence, but something makes him look up and see her. He doesn't smile, nor does she. She withdraws into the room, carefully closing the window and barring the shutters, before settling back to her vigil by Haldir's bed. She is not surprised, however, a few minutes later, when a soft tap at the door annouces her cousin's arrival. | | Sunday, January 5th, 2003 | | 1:17 am |
I don't know what's happened with Haldir. We've managed to move him from the corridor into an empty bedroom, and I'm sitting with him now, but there's no response from him. He just shakes and stares blankly ahead of him. Eomer and Faramir are around, but each has been out, roaming the passages of the inn with their swords drawn. They won't tell me what they're looking for, all Eomer will say is that it isn't him. I can't even say his name. Eomer and I seem to have come to a silent agreement not to mention him. Faramir wouldn't let me into his and Haldir's room. Something terrible happened in there and I still have no idea what. Haldir stopped me from dying. I can't even stop him from shaking now. | | Friday, January 3rd, 2003 | | 11:34 pm |
Look you gits, you're eight hours behind and I have to go to bed soon and you're getting italics!... Lothiriel looks at her husband in chains and Melkor, once again impersonating Eomer. From outside she can hear her stepdaughter screaming for her mother.
Enough is enough. From within her, Lothiriel discovers that soul bonds with the epitome of evil have their advantages and gives into her dark side.
Eomer's chains burst and he collapses into his wife's arms.
Lothiriel ignores the grinning Melkor beside her and concentrates on her husband.Eomer, darling, are you okay? DENETHOR! Leave me and my husband in peace, or I swear I'll stage a coup and overthrow you and Theodred. ((Guys, seriously tired, not up for long, if you hate this, let me know and I'll delete it. BTW, no Ian McKellan gossip, but apparently Ewan McGregor is as sexy in the flesh as he is on screen.)) | | 6:52 pm |
UNCLE DENNY!!!!!!!!
Release my husband immediately or I'll tell your Daddy on you! And I'll hide ALL of Dred's drain cleaner for ever and ever and ever! I DON'T NEED THIS STRESS, I'M STRESSED ENOUGH ALREADY! | | Thursday, January 2nd, 2003 | | 5:33 pm |
feeling...rather...strange... voice...in...my...head...says...do...it. .. *approves soul bonds all round for any applicants, except for Fan Girl because even Melkor's not that evil* | | 7:07 am |
Lothiriel wakes up to find the bed empty. For a moment she thinks she's dreamed the events of the night before, but she feels different.
A bunch of roses - deep red roses, dark enough to be almost black - lie on the pillow with a note. Smiling, she picks them up and breathes in their scent before reaching out in her mind for her husband.
Ah. There it is. She really wasn't dreaming, she can indeed sense his presence, although he seems to be a bit further away than she'd expected.
And he doesn't seem to be quite like Eomer. It's as though he's angry. Or dangerous. There's something not quite right here.
Lothiriel probes cautiously with her mind while opening the letter on her pillow.
A moment later she is sitting bolt upright in bed, screaming and screaming and won't stop, no matter how many people burst into her room.MELKOR!!! | | 12:07 am |
Lothiriel rides into Edoras thoughtfully. Her conversation with Elfwine has helped her mood somewhat, but she still feels homeless.
Even if she is, her son certainly isn't. No sooner has she arrived at Meduseld than baby Elfwine was swooped upon by a bevy of cooing women. She smiles a bit, particularly when they also greet her with affection, and allows her son to be taken away for bath and bed.
Both sound good, and whatever her status may be in Edoras, she is still treated royally. Within an hour, she's tucked up in bed, having bathed and eaten.
As she curls up in the massive bed she's always shared with Eomer, the emptiness seems to overwhelm her. Silently, she begins to cry again. |
